Laid back Wednesday

I just love George’s short weeks at work. Luckily, that week is this week so that’s why I’ve been so M.I.A.   Unfortunately though, sometimes our days off together revolve mainly around food and that can be a bit of a disaster for me. That was the case these past 2 days… I just can’t say no!!

Monday we went and picked up George’s car (he was rear-ended a few weeks ago) and decided to head down to Ballantyne to get lunch. Along the way we decided to stop at Groucho’s deli for a delicious sub with their signature 45 sauce.

I didn’t get a picture of my sub, but this is a picture of the STP Dipper that I got for the first time.  It’s AMAZING.

After eating my whole sandwich plus a bag of chips and a soda I was pretty full. We shopped around in Ballantyne for a little and then ended up getting Mexican just a few hours later. We also stopped in at Publix to grab a peanut butter filled donut.  I didn’t take a picture of the donut because it didn’t last long.

Last night we went to a new sushi restaurant that one of George’s customers recommended and we realized once we got there that they didn’t open until 5 for dinner. We walked around for a little while waiting and then got right in once they opened. We ended up splitting 3 rolls and some crab rangoons but still walked out hungry, so we stopped at Sonic where I got a delicious Oreo blast and George got a cheesy hotdog.

Yummmm!!

Once we got home we decided to cook up a pizza and between the two of us we ate all of it.  Once the guilt set in, George and I headed for the gym for round 2.  I felt so guilty that I did an additional 50 mins of cardio split between the treadmill, elliptical and stairclimber.  Needless to say, I woke up this morning still feeling full!  Not to worry though… I met up with a friend and went to Sunflour Bakery downtown for breakfast and cupcakes!

As you can see, I couldn’t wait to take a picture before I tried one!  The caramel is my absolute favorite.  I’m about 99% positive that I will be getting these cupcakes as my “wedding cake” whenever that day comes.

Now that I’m home, I’m sitting around until UPS delivers a package before I meet another friend at the gym.  Since I have all this time on my hands (UPS says they’ll be here sometime between 2 and 7… great time frame, huh? Haha) I’m planning my next meal of course…

What should I have for dinner?  Should I keep it light with some greek yogurt and peanut butter, or an open faced egg, cheese, tomato and spinach sandwich with a low carb bagel, or some tortellini with roasted veggies?  I wanted to try to keep it lite and  stay away from the carbs, but as full as I was yesterday I was grateful for that pizza when I was at the gym.  I forgot how much energy a carb-filled dinner can provide me with during a late night workout!!

Beauty Brands Liter Sale Goodies!

I had a slow start to my day today, but it felt good to sleep past 9 finally!  After George left for work, I laid around in bed with the baby and did my daily blog reading and online shopping.  I decided around 11 that I should probably start getting up and getting ready for my morning gym trip.  I haven’t had much energy in the mornings this week so I’ve been defaulting to a new morning snack to get me through my workout:

Peanut butter graham cracker

Peanut butter graham crackers!  I’m lucky that I made it up the stairs and only ate half the graham cracker along the way… that was hard to accomplish.  My sleeping baby perked up right away the second she smelled the peanut butter.  You can’t even open a container of it without her knowing about it!  I think this was a great wake up call for her.

Once I finally got myself out of the door and on my way to the gym, I got a text from a friend about Beauty Brands‘ yearly LITER SALE!!  For some reason I thought the sale started on July 1 and I have been counting down the days.  When I got that text, I bypassed the gym and went to pick out my new shampoo and conditioner.  Last year my products of choice were sold out before I ever made it Beauty Brands, but this year I was determined to beat the crowd.  Once I got there I quickly found out that my favorites were not on sale this year 😦 Oh well.  I ended up with the “Sexy Hair” brand’s “Smooth Sexy Hair” shampoo and conditioner.  The sale’s associate told me that was the closest to my first choice, AG Smooth and Sleek, so I figured I would try it out.

I’m excited to try this out, but a little cautious as well.  The sulfate free shampoo I ended up with last year (since my smooth and sleek was sold out) leaves a weird residue in my hair every time I wash it.  I have heard that’s common with a lot of sulfate free shampoos so I will be returning this one if that’s the case!

After my small little detour, I turned my butt around and went right back to the gym where I completed some cardio and abs.  I was tempted to run into Nothing Bundt Cake (which just so happened to be right next door to Beauty Brands) but I had to be strong.  Not to worry thought.  Cake and ice cream is definitely on the menu for tonight!

Interval treadmill sprint workout

This morning started off with a text from a trainer at my gym telling me that the spin class for this morning was canceled :(. I had planned to bring a friend with me and was looking forward to a good, different workout but that’s ok I’m still a little sore from yesterday’s spin class.  Since I was already up early, I went ahead and went to the gym anyways.  I thought about just doing cardio, but when I got there I changed my mind.  I ended up doing 30 mins of mixed cardio, some abs and a small hamstring workout.

I started off with 10 mins on the stairmaster (THAT is a workout!!), followed by 30 mins on the treadmill.  I have been waiting on a new pair of Brooks, my shoe of choice, so I wanted to keep my run “light” to help prevent my dreaded shin splints from old shoes.  I’ve been dealing with more shin splints and ankle swelling than usual, so I decided to order the Pure Flows this time instead of my typical Pure Connects for a little more support.  I’m hoping I love them as much as my Connects!!

Ahhh!

Ahhh!

I wasn’t really feeling a workout at first, but after I warmed up on the treadmill my energy started to kick in!  My treadmill workout for this morning looked like this:

By the end of this workout I was soaked.  It’s a great choice for loosing some quick weight since it’s an interval workout that is constantly causing your heart rate to go up and down.  If you choose to do this workout outside, instead of “jumping off” the treadmill you can walk through the 30 sec rest periods.  When running on the treadmill, it’s hard to switch back and forth between a sprinting pace and a walking pace in a 30 sec time period!  I was pretty tired and went through my post run stretches and hamstring workout quickly.  I had a lunch date to make it to with a friend from some Hawaiian bagel chicken salad sandwiches!  Now it’s back to the gym for round 2 with George.  Hope everyone has a great Saturday!
